Mary was born in the rolling hills of northern California and spent many warm summer days working in her mother’s vegetable garden. Picking prunes and walnuts out of nearby orchards late each year inspired an awe for the bountiful harvest of the region. This reverence is manifest in the Palace Market’s broad spectrum of natural and organic products, with emphasis on local and artisanal. “I always say we were the first ‘regular’ grocery store to carry organics,” says Mary, who took over ownership/management of the Palace Market when her mother retired in 2000. “Point Reyes Station has always been progressive about food – they demanded organics way back in the 70’s!”
Mary also owns the Rocca Family Vineyards winery in Napa Valley with her husband, Eric Grigsby.
Born and raised on the northern Sonoma Coast, Brittany has always been surrounded by food production. Her experience raising animals to feed her family, picking apples in her neighbor’s orchard, and tasting the freshest of chevres from friend’s dairy goats nurtured her passion for the artisan food industry. Brittany has travelled the globe working as a pastry chef, bartender, cheesemonger and more. She joined the Palace team in 2014 as Assistant Deli manager, and moved through the ranks to Director of Operations. In 2020 she started her new role as Store Director. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, painting, fishing and hiking, and serves on the Board of Directors for the California Artisan Cheese Guild.
